Jeff Liebert Managing Director
Jeff Liebert is a co-founder of Verdeo Group and leads the company's mining practice. He is working with some of the leading underground mine operators to develop next generation methane utilization and emission reduction projects in the United States. He has written articles for leading industry trade magazines, including World Coal (download article), Coal Age, American Coal Council and has been a featured conference speaker for the National Mining Association, American Coal Council, EPA's Coalbed Methane Outreach Program, and Longwall USA.
Prior to Verdeo Group, Jeff was a Vice President for Climate Change Capital's US$1 billion carbon fund, where he was responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of industrial energy efficiency and methane gas utilization projects throughout Eurasia. Jeff brings a wealth of experience investing in energy and clean technology companies as a venture capital investor, project financier, and project developer. Prior to joining CCC, Jeff led the development of the International Finance Corporation's portfolio of clean technology investments originating and structuring over $80 million in assets, including WaterHealth International, MBA Polymers, and Turbotech. Jeff also led and structured a highly innovative $150 million risk sharing facility with the Industrial Bank of China and natural gas utility Xinao Gas to provide project financing to industrial energy efficiency projects, which was recognized by the Financial Times as one of the top sustainability deals of 2006.. Before the IFC, Jeff consulted to multinational corporations on market entry strategies for China and established and managed joint venture textile factories throughout Central Asia and China. Jeff holds an MBA from Wharton Business School, a BA from Tufts University and speaks Mandarin and Russian.
